To Mugs,
Subject: You've been tagged

Wow Mugs, I've been tagged twice on the same day, by Reeholio, and Peanut.
Hmm, I'm going to have difficulty tagging bloggers for this meme, since all of my new
blog friends have already completed it. So I'll complete this mission a little differently.

Tagging
Mugs, my friend and confidant. You've been tagged. Just answer the questions and I'll post it here by email as usual. (Mugs doesn't run a blog)

Tagging Inn Space: Dursten Sha'wtz, Buz'zee Magswell, Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse, Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken, Tolby: The (ex) Bellman

Guys, just answer using your FYI pods, I'll have to reverse-engineer your responces to make it Blog ready. I'll add your responces under mine on this post.

1. One book that changed your life - hardest question first.

Frank: That's an easy one! The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, by Dr. Betty Edwards. If it wasn't for this book, I don't think I would be blogging at all. I probably wouldn't have continued drawing, due to getting discouraged with my drawing skills not improving or some such reason. Then I would have had nothing that I would have wanted to save, let alone share.

Dursten Sha'wtz: Well, do poems count. When I was a young physics student, I was searching through some Mother archives and found a poem entitled E=mc2 by Peter J. Oszmann. I really liked it because Einstien was a favorite Mother scientist of mine. Even now we still have to study classic Physics.
Buz'zee Magswell: Well that would have to be Tales From The Crypt.
As a cave dweller it hit's close to home and provides a certain security for me knowing that we all have a dark side.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: Yeah, I liked that old magazine Heavy Metal I found a copy in Mother Archives. I liked the art and stories. I even named my scoot jumper Den. It got me through puberty. They don't make anything like it anymore. I wish they never had to leave Mother and scatter us in the collonies.

2. One book that you've read more than once.
Frank: Stephen King's The Stand.I don't really know why, but I find something different in it every time I read it. Normally, when I read a book, and have to put it away for some reason, I'll have to go back some pages or even a chapter to refresh myself. If it has been too long, I'll even start the book over. The first time I read The Stand, I did have to put it away. When I picked it up some weeks later, I just turned to the book-marked page, and continued right where I left off. It was like I never put it down. I knew what every character was doing, remembered their names even. I've never had a book do that to me.

Dursten Sha'wtz: Hands down, it has to be the Chariots of the Gods, by Erich von Daniken. There was a sense of hope to it in its day, that something, or someone was out here that showed our ancestors technologies that they could not have accomplished themselves at the time. I think that's why I was so hellbound in developing the Tachion Drive. As a people, we've been away from Mother for over three hundred years. We haven't found anyone yet. There's still a chance that we might still find someone, some culture out here other than our own. And if we do find someone, maybe we will be their teachers and the 'Gods' of their future legends. Even now, we still haven't completely figured out the Antikythera mechanism, so maybe there is a chance, and it could still go either way.

Buz'zee Magswell: The Joy of sex, of course, cause I just can't imagine people being that flexible and athletic while having sex,,, even when you turn the pictures upside down or side way's, some of it's gotta be hell.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: I have one very old issue of Playboy Magazine. I really like the jokes. It helped me with puberty more...

3. One book that you'd want on a desert island.
Frank: The Talisman, by Stephen King and Peter Straub. I read this on a Greyhound trip from Grande Prairie to Vancouver. The book was a hoot, and it really passed the time well. If a book could keep me busy enough to forget to look at the wonderful views of the Rocky Mountains, I think it would keep me mentally diverted on a dessert island.

Dursten Sha'wtz: I think the Gran' Nebulae is as close to a desert island that you can get around here, and I just happen to have the book with me, The Celestine Prophecy An Adventure, by James Redfield. Coincidence--I think not.
Buz'zee Magswell: No contest, I want Shell Busey.. It's just that easy.Volume 4
I can build a shelter and know how to handle a spongy floor all in 1 book.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: I'd have to bring my classic issue of Playboy Magazine. It might help with puberty again. I like the jokes.

4. One book that made you laugh.

Frank: I really can't remember the name of it, but it was a book by Ben Wicks. (I googled it and I'm sure it was entitled More Losers). Anyway, it was a compilation of short true 'mis-happenings' of peoples demise, or stupid injuries that would occur, or stupid predicaments people would get themselves in. An example is the poor soul who was struck many, many times by lightning, which finally did kill him. After his death, his tombstone was also struck by lightning--twice! The way Ben put this book together and illustrated it was just pure fun.

Dursten Sha'wtz: There's a book that's been floating around the Gran' Nebulae. It's very old and heavily dog-eared. It's called Waiters from Hell, Customers from Other Planets, by Michael Sabourin. It's purely an anecdotal collection of service nightmares. It's just fun. I think the Gran' Nebulae uses it as an unofficial training manual.
Buz'zee Magswell: Charlotte's Web, they made us read it in junior high and to this day I still don't know why.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: The Cat in the Hat, by Dr. Suess. I don't know what a cat is or why wearing a hat was a big deal, but it cleaned up the house when it finished. I was always in trouble when I didn't put my stuff away. It was fun. I want a cat in a hat, and that's that. Unless I'm going through puberty again, don't need a cat then.

5. One book that made you cry.

Frank: This is the hard question, but I'd have to say Mary Shelly's Frankenstein. I know that sounds weird, but I am a big fan of old horror movies, and love Boris Karloff. Of course, I saw the movie many years before I read the book, but the book really is emotionally charged. I wish now that Hollywood would have been more true to the book for Boris's role (he is my favorite horror actor). I visualize how he would have played the role and feel that he would have gotten to the heart of the book through his performance. Boris touched on some of this in the scene with the old blind man, and the scene with the little girl.

Dursten Sha'wtz: There's more than one, but I'd have to say Old Yeller, by Fred Gipson, and Lassie Come Home by Eric M. Knight. I'm a real sucker for dog books. Dogs, and later cats, all developed a virus that was incurable a few years after our ancestors arrived to form the colonies. Other animals faired well after the trip and thrived. I think that's why these stories get to me.
Buz'zee Magswell: Phantom of the Opera, of course, it was so sad.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: My classic issue of Playboy Magazine. I thought I lost it a couple of years ago. I like the jokes.

6. One book that you wish you had written.
Frank: The Illiad or the Oddesy, by Homer. Just because.

Dursten Sha'wtz: The Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri. Ditto Frank!

Buz'zee Magswell: Easy choice,, How to be a millionare.. can you imagine the money that guy made by grabbing onto other people's greed ! How to become a millionare ? Write a book on how to. Brilliant.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: The Tragical history of Doctor Faustus, by Christopher Marlowe, because I know I could trick Mephistopheles, and I would be with Mel'lonza, I'd have my scoot jumper back, and I wouldn't have needed that muscle graft thingy. I'd also have more Playboys, and I would have a cat in a hat to clean house after me.

7. One book you wish had never been written.
Frank: Willian Petter Blatty's The Exorcist. I've never had nightmares from a book before. And yes, I saw the movie when it first came out, but it didn't bother me too much (Well a little. I am the same age as Linda Blair. I kept convincing myself, it would only happen to girls, just so it wouldn't bother me). However, it became my favorite pure horror movie (as I got older), but the book still just makes my mind wander way too much. Eerie.

Dursten Sha'wtz: None that I can think of. But I can think of many 'terrible' vid adaptions of some of my favorite books. I really like to watch the vid first, then follow by reading the book. Most people like to do it the other way, but I find that a good vid adaption followed by reading it gets you more in tune with what characters are thinking. It seems to enhance my whole expeirence this way. I don't think I've seen a good vid adaption of a bad book.
Buz'zee Magswell: The Bible.. Strange of course, the biggest fairy tale ever written, but millions were and are to this day still reading over and over again, and it effect's there every day lives and they can't think for themselves anymore. (Note: Please don't flame Frank for this one. he really didn't write for Buz'zee's Answers)
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: Four Rooms with Quenten Tarentino. I don't know if it is a book, but they showed me the vid when I started at the Gran' Nebula and said it was a training manual for Bellman. Huh, I worked there for quite a while and I never got to do it with any Wiccas...I never got to do it at all. Being a bellman didn't help with puberty.

8. One book that you are reading at the moment.
Frank: A friend, who is an avid collector of almost everything, gave me two very old books he had collected. First is Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities, published in England by T. Nelson and Sons in 1903, and Florence L. Barclay's, The Rosary, published In New York by Grossat and Dunlap in 1910. I've just started reading the Rosary.

Dursten Sha'wtz: None at the moment, unless you can consider Que'nesh Eba's, Riot Act, er I mean, Duty List. It's a tome in its own right. (I hope she doesn't read this).
Buz'zee Magswell: No time to read a book in publication, I have to keep up with the on going tale of Inn Space.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: I'm re-reading my Heavy Metal, and My Playboy issues. I need to see if it will help my calf muscle graft thingy surgery. Hoping it will be like puberty again. Have to wait six weeks though. Maybe I'll go watch Four rooms again, maybe I missed something.

9. One book that you've been meaning to read.
Frank: Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury. First, because I am a Bradbury fan. I have seen the movie, which I did enjoy, but Bradbury stated he didn't like the movie version, so I've just got to read 'his' story.

Dursten Sha'wtz: Paradise Lost, by John Milton. I didn't have time in formal studies to read any of Milton's epic. Paradise Lost was always refered to in some way or another, but was not part of the formal curriculum. Hopefully this new career at the Gran' Nebulae, will allow for some down time to read it.
Buz'zee Magswell: Holy Blood/Holy Grail
I read the Davinci Code and am now really curious as to how it all started.
Chef Fol'liquel y'Sparse:
Chef Rosy Mi'Kwaken
Tolby The (ex) Bellman: The book addaption of the screenplay I'Robot The illustrated Screenplay, written by Harlan Ellison in collaboration with Isaac Asimov. I like robots, and there's some cool ones in Heavy Metal too. Some robots helped them get through puberty too.

---Thanks for the tags Rhys, and Peanut. I really had fun with this meme. I have completed the meme as myself, Dursten and Tolby. I have emailed Mugs, Our Executive Chef, and our Dining Room Chef to tag them with this, but they really do not blog--yet. When I get their emails, I will put their answers under their appropriate character names. If they don't participate, I'll add their answers myself!! And I might not be to choosy, tee hee.
Thanks Bobby Griffin for the Re-run at Bestest Blog yesturday. Tried to have this post ready after I recieved your email, but got called into work.

Hi Frank,

What an original way to do it. It's hard when the meme has already spread like wild-fire. I like your answers too. You're braver than me. I get nightmares just watching a horror movie, let alone reading a book. The only King book I read was Carrie, when I was about 14, and it gave me nightmares for weeks. Haven't read one since.

Cheers, Rhys

This is funny! It must've taken quite a bit of work...it's a great read. I like The Stand too, as well as Frankenstein, The Divine Comedy, and Homer's work.

I did have wwaaayyyy too much fun doing this meme. It did give me a different way to look at the personalities of the characters I'm bulding in Inn Space. If the others I've tagged don't respond to this, I will tackle it for them as their characters. I just hope I've read enough books!!
Frank
Is it just me, or is the Word Verifications for posting comments starting to make sense? I feel like I'm learning a new language one word at a time. ggg

What a creative and "authorish" way to respond to a meme. I love what you've done here.

I agree with Lizza, it's a great read as well. She sent me the link to this post and then I ran across you again on Bobby Griffin's random button rotation.

I will be adding your wonderful meme to my new site, BookMemeCentral.

It is truly one-of-a-kind.
Thank you!
