The Order of the Rose Episode Seven:
Clubbing
"Kramer, I'll need you to pull the car around. It seems that the Van Klumph twins want me to go for a drink in the city." Azreal said. "Very good, Sir," Kramer said, "And what's our destination?" "That new nightclub and lounge in Soho, not sure of the name, but we will swing by and pick them up on the way." "Idle Hands, Sir." "Pardon? What's wrong with my hands." "The club, Sir, its name is Idle Hands." "You know of it then?" Azreal asked. "Only by reputation, Sir." "Like what?" "There was an incident the other night, Sir. A young man was found in the alley behind the club, apparently having lost a good deal of blood. I believe he was a known drug user." "Well, it sounds absolutely delightful." Azreal said with a smirk. "I'll be waiting at the car when you're ready, Sir." Kramer said as he left the room. Azreal left the drawing room and went upstairs to get a small box that he placed into his breast pocket, and then left to meet Kramer at the car. They stopped at the Van Klumph mansion on the way to Idle Hands. Darren and Darria both got into the car. They arrived at the club. Idle Hands was busy tonight. Head-banging Ecstasy-freaks thrashing about on the dancefloor. A group of goths keeping to themselves in one corner of the club. A hen-party in another corner, and a group of University students draining their student loans. Azreal headed towards the goth group and found a table. Darria laughed, she knew Azreal would head toward the goths in the corner. "Bring back memories, Az?" "Yes, but the music was better back then-louder, more umph."

Darren's fingers tapped against the table. He had been on edge all day since the nightmare. He wanted to find the right moment, but he wasn't expecting Darria to want to come tonight. So he stayed quiet, not telling Azreal how he felt about him. Azreal turned to them both, pulled the box out of his pocket and opened it. "What do you think?" Azreal asked. They both looked at the contents of the box. In it were two white fangs that looked like they were made of pure ivory. They turned their gaze toward Azreal with a confused expression. Darren started to say, "Fangs? You're not..." "Yes, I am," Azreal said, "They said that they can permanently attach to my canines similar to a crown, but with a much stronger bond." "Permanently, how are you going to eat with those?" Darren asked. "How do predators with fangs eat, lions, tigers, cougars?" "Not sure about the lions and tigers, but the cougars just go to lounges and get the young bucks to buy them a meal." Darria said laughing. Both Azreal and Darren gave Darria that 'how droll' look, which made Darria laugh even louder. "Getting your ears pointed was one thing, but the teeth. It feels like you're going just a bit too far." "No, it's just cosmetic, and it's me. Really, me." Darren conceded. There was nothing he could say to Azreal that would make him change his mind once he's got his mind set on something. So, he changed the subject. "Valentina Romancewicz wants me to go to dinner with her this coming Friday." The hairs on the nape of Azreal's neck stood at the sound of her name. "Really, you must have made an impression on her at the Gala then." "I don't see how. I didn't say anything to her, but she did give me a look." "Sometimes that's all..." Azreal stopped cold mid sentence. He saw her. Only for a second, but somewhere within the group of University students, Valentina was staring at him.

"See a ghost?" Darria said. "For a second, I thought I saw Valentina in with the students across the bar. But it wasn't her." Darria smiled a forced smile. Azreal was correct. It was Valentina across the bar, and she's still there. Watching. Darria knew she was here the moment they walked into the club. Valentina made sure Darria felt her presence.
